Beauty and Wonder
I’ve said before, “just take time to look around”. We just returned from a 4 day trip to Disneyland and I was able to capture lots of photos that show exactly what I mean about taking your time. If your running from one attraction to another, you’ll miss all that Disneyland is, you’ll miss the subtle beauty that is everywhere, even beauty that is right there inside the attractions.
These shots come from all around the Disneyland Park and California Adventure Park. Some come from areas that are tucked into the small spaces, the spaces that you’ll run by if your hurrying to get to the next ride. So be sure to give yourself time during your next trip to Disneyland, find a park bench, Disneyland has placed hundreds of them throughout the park. Look for one that is off the main path, and then use your eyes and your camera to discover the Wonder and beauty of Disneyland. This photo comes from an area set aside for smoking, between the Matterhorn and It’s a Small World. The ponds have ducks swimming around and some come right up to you, only Disneyland would set an area that is so quiet and peaceful.
Every evening after the park closes to the guest, the Disneyland crew starts to work, the lights go on and they begin their shift maintaining the park. Cleaning streets, changing plantings where needed, painting and polishing the park, so in the morning when the first guest walks into the park, they are presented with the experience of a brand new park just for them. With Disney going to all this effort just for you, shouldn’t you slow down and enjoy it? See Ya in the Park

We had just finished a great dinner at Rainforest Cafe, that included Scampi, Coconut Shrimp, incredible vegetables, and of course a couple of their famous margaritas. As we left the restaurant to head back to the Park for the evening Fireworks. We could hear the rich and energetic music of Alturas playing. There is just no way to stand still when Alturas is performing. We listened, danced and enjoyed their music, while dozens of people joined in. On your next trip to Disneyland, keep your ears open, and if you hear a wonderful sound, stop and give a listen to some of the most unique and pleasing music, with influences and instruments from around the world - It’s ALTURAS!
Here is a short clip that shows Alturas performing at the Downtown Disney District. They always gather a large crowd of onlookers and sometimes you’ll even see them dance

When your travel to Disneyland to celebrate a birthday, be sure to stop by City Hall and let them know. Just step in and announce that this is your birthday trip and they will present you with a Birthday Button that you can wear. As you make your way around the park you will receive Birthday greetings from cast members as well as other guest. It’s great fun, and you do receive some extras at several locations around Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure Park, and the Downtown Disney District. Some of the gifts you’ll receive are desserts at the restaurants, a free bag of fresh Tortillas at the Mission Tortilla factory in Disney’s California Adventure Park and other freebies, plus special treatment. We asked for and got the front car on California Screamin, because my daughter was wearing her Birthday Pin. Plus we had a special Happy Birthday song from some of the cast members in California Adventure Park.
So plan your trip on or around your Birthday and watch the magic happen for you too!
See for yourself.
