Disneyland Obsession

When taking a trip to the Disneyland Resort in the winter months, it’s always a good idea to plan that the weather may get a little wet. I know that the song says “It Never Rains in Southern California”, but thats just not true. It may not rain a lot but it can rain some, and you sure ,don’t want your trip to Disneyland to get all soggy and be ruined after all the planning and hard work you put in to get there.

One thing you should always pack is your handy emergency Poncho. They can be purchased at most retail stores with a camping or outdoor department for as little as $.99 for one that will fit in your hip pocket. You can spend more for a more sturdy one, like the one my daughter is wearing these cost around $9.00 and saved us from the wind and rain on our most resent trip this December 14-17. This was the first time visiting that we didn’t wear sandals and shorts, so it was a new experience for us, but we did have a great time. I think on our next winter trip we might try a full rain suit, just so we can keep that area just above the ankles a little more dry. The poncho did fine for most of the rain but the  wind would drive the rain at your ankles leaving you cold and a little wet.

One thing we learned is never think that an umbrella will do the job because it won’t when those Southern California winds kick up. We most have seen 50 or more umbrellas turn inside out, leaving the holder exposed to the rain. Don’t feel self conscious about wearing rain gear at Disneyland, because all the experienced smart ones are.

      With the changes planned for the open area between the entrances to Both Disneyland Park and California Adventure Park, I couldn’t help but feel a little melancholy about the entrance to California Adventure Park. I know that someday soon, all of what you see when leaving the Parks and heading back to the hotel will be gone. Those letters, the replica of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the mountain backdrops will all just disappear.

           I look forward to the preposed changes, I know that Disney Imagineers will make something wonderful, but what will the new attraction feel like, how will the music change, what will the entire area feel like when leaving the parks at night? So I thought that I should at least capture a little video to remember the original entrance to the California Adventure Park, and that way be able to remember the feel of it.

In the future the area will look something like this artist concept. It will represent Los Angeles at the time Walt Disney first arrived in California.

The center piece will be  the Carthay Circle Theater, which showed the world premiere of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937. It should be a great addition to the parks, and I do look forward to the first time I get to visit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It will become Buena Vista Street, with a Trolley car for transportation,  period shops and   restaurants, all with a total feel of 1920 Los Angeles.  

 

So until I get a chance to see the “NEW” old Los Angeles, I’ll think of Disneyland and always see the Golden Gate, The giant letters that spell California and the murals that depict the feel of California. But soon I’ll have to say goodbye to California
