supershuttle.jpgI recently saw a blog post from a couple,  planning their first trip to disneyland. Asking what is the best way to get from the Los Angeles Airport to Paradise Pier Hotel at the Disneyland Resort. Should they take the Disneyland Shuttle or one of the private shuttle companies to make this trip, “which would be best”? I decided that I should chime in with my two cents worth, as I have used the Super Shuttle service on more than one occasion. Each time I used the Super Shuttle it was from the Orange County Airport and not the Los Angeles Airport. The greatest reason for flying into Orange County Airport was really very simple it’s only a few mile and about 14 minutes away from Disneyland. Lax is about 32 miles away from Disneyland and take about 35 minutes to get there. As everyone knows when your traveling to Disneyland you don’t want to waste time traveling on the highway when you can be walking ” Right down the middle of Main Street USA”.

The very first time I used the Super Shuttle, I had made all of my arrangements through the Disneyland Travel. But you can call them direct to make your Super Shuttle reservation. The fees can be as low as $10.00 per person, or as much as $67.00 for a group of 9 people. And at Orange County Airport it’s as easy as just walking out the front door of the airport walking across the street to the shuttle parking hub and approch the Super Shuttle Driver to see if he is the one with your reservation. Returning to the airport is just as easy, they call you the night before to remind you of your pick up time the following day, and they are there on time and ready to get you back to the airport in plenty of time for your flight.

The drivers are freiendly and helpful and often will chat with the kids about their trip to Disneyland adding to the excitement.

So for me it’s the Super Shuttle service that has worked every time I’ve used it, and will be the service I use every time I need it.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The folks at Disney have finally opened the vault and  will be re-releasing this classic film to thier Disney film fans. This 1937 film is the one that started it all with it’s world debut at the Carthay Circle TheatreWalt Disney Plaza in Los Angeles.

The rest is history as they say, and I should remind you that the Disney Imagineers and Disneyland Resort will be restoring that era in the renovation of the entrance to California Adventure park over the next few years.

It was a warm evening in April, it was our first day at Disneyland, and it was time to have a nice dinner. After all we had driven from Northern California, spent some time inside Disneyland, it had been a very long day. So a chance to sit and relax have a good meal was exactly what we needed.

We often have a Disneyland rookie with us when we travel, i.e.: grandkids, and we take them to the Rainforest cafe for all they have to offer in visual effects, the kids really love it. But this time it was just the three of us, so we decided to give Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen a try.

As we entered the restaurant through the courtyard, we could hear the lively jazz guitar music being created in the Flambeaux dining room, and I quietly wished we could sit there. But it fills up fast and we were being escorted to the Balcony overlooking the Downtown Disney District. They made us comfortable at the edge, and it turned out to be a great place to watch people and relax.

Our waiter was Josh, a pleasant young man that offered many interesting suggestions to this table of first time Jazz Kitchen Diners. We studied the menu and decided that we would try their Live more Spend Less Special. It was perfect, not to much food, not to much in price.

Live More…Spend Less!

Dessert Selection

Creole Cheesecake

I chose the French Quarter Salad, Shrimp Scampi, my wife had the Soup of the Day which was Potato, with the New York Strip.

As my daughter had already had a Churro and a Mickey Bar inside the park, so wasn’t that hungry and tends to be a picky eater anyway.

Joss assured us that he could bring anything that she would like, and she ordered the

Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Bacon Pecan Crusted Green Beans and

Roman Garlic Bread
Fresh ciabatta bread, basil and fresh mozzarella cheese, baked and served with a spicy purée of roasted garlic and olive oil
7.50

When Joss finished writing down our order, I asked him to bring extra silverware so we could sample each others dishes.

So we ate our way around the table and each and every dish was awesome in taste, and  beautifully presented.

The Roman Garlic Bread is something you must order, it has an amazing flavor you won’t easily forget.

We still had Dessert to do,  which for the wife and I was to be the

Bread Pudding

The Queen of Crescent City desserts…Rich in cream, eggs, sugar and raisins. Served with our house made créme anglaise . WOW!

Josh even brought my daughter a small scoop of ice cream without being asked. He was great.

So now we’d had a long day, a memorable meal in a unique restaurant, in the happiest place on earth, Disneyland. What more could you ask for?

As we strolled through the Downtown Disney District, enjoying the music and atmosphere, we couldn’t help but talk about how good our meal was. And for sure we will make Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen a Disneyland tradition on all future visits, can’t wait.

I recommend it highly to anyone visiting The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.
